In 1992 Alison led an internal options appraisal for the City who were exploring management options for a range of Sport and Cultural Services. Using the best practice approach developed with I&DeA, the review explored a range of options for the Council’s consideration. The approach included a detailed current state analysis, consultation with Officers and staff, financial review and two stage Options Appraisal and Economic Appraisal for capital redevelopment of Grove Leisure Centre.

Business Growth/ business planning
Commissioned to complete revenue business plan projections for Belfast. The flagship facilities will provide swimming and leisure provision for both the local community and tourism markets. Continual growth and development of the Leisure business from 1983 – 2000 with % increases year on year.
Indoor Leisure Facility Strategy for the city taking into account the effect of the Olympic Legacy facilities and demographic growth from the planned regeneration of the city. The report included the demand and supply assessment, impact of the planned re-provision, facility mix, designs and costings (Revenue and Capital) for the proposed developments.

Energy and Sustainability
Alison was involved in cutting local authority carbon emissions and encouraged a free-to-join best practice network. Over 360 local authorities from across the UK are now part of a unique free-to-join best practice network focused on reducing carbon emissions and sharing best practice in the drive to tackle climate change.
Sharing best practice is always important for Scope Consulting- never more so than on the issue of reducing carbon emissions. All members of this best practice network by case studies on initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and can use an online forum to directly interact with one another to discuss the challenges and share experience.
